"Kita satu bangsa, Kita satu negara,
Kita satu matlamat...oooo~
Kita satu bangsa,satu negara,
Kita satu Malaysia..."
Hey Peeps!
We are back for our second post~
That is the song of Satu Malaysia ( 1 Malaysia ) produced by Lim KokWing university.
It represents unity, peace and acceptance.
Why do we use " Satu Malaysia " as our tittle???
Hehe!
You must be very curious right?
As Malaysians, we would like to recommend different types of cuisine which includes Malay, Chinese and Indian to show how united we Malaysians are and to let more people know about our culture.
SO!
Recently we went to three different places in Perak which are Tapah, Ipoh and also Taiping.
MALAY FOODS (TAPAH)
Our first stop was Tapah which we will be introducing some mouthwatering Malay foods.
We reached this place called "WARUNG" which means SHOP and it was named by the resident here.
It is famous for its traditional Malay foods.
It has been operating for the past 30 years and the current owner is the second generation.
Once we stepped into the place, the people there are friendly as the happily welcomed us.
The first thing they introduced to us is their famous food, ULAM.
The ingredients of Ulam are JANTUNG PISANG, KACANG KELISA, PUCUK UBI and SELOM.
This is the sambal sauce that we ate with the Ulam.
The left side is MACANG, the middle is SAMBAL BELACAN and the right side is SAMBAL TEMPOYAK, that is durian plus sambal.
The first impression when we saw the Ulam is like"WOW! What's that?!"
But as a "gourmet", we should have a concept of "never try, never know, once you try, you would definitely say YES !''
By the way, the dish only cost RM3.00 each.
While we are enjoying the Ulam, we smell something nice.
"What's that?!"
It represents unity, peace and acceptance.

WHOA!
The spicy-sour sambal with Ulam stimulates our appetite!
This dish fully fulfill our appetite and curiosity as well.By the way, the dish only cost RM3.00 each.
While we are enjoying the Ulam, we smell something nice.
"What's that?!"
"Oh! It is ikan bakar!"(Grilled Fish)
We can't resist the temptation, hence we ordered two types of ikan bakar.
The left side is called CENCARU.The right side is called IKAN KELI.

The ikan cencaru can be served now!
Inside IKAN CENCARU, it is filled with sambal kelapa.
It smells very nice.
The skin of the fish is very crispy and the fish tastes juicy.
Its salty-sour sauce is wonderful and fresh.
Sounds good right?
It is definitely worth trying!
The price of the ikan cencaru is RM6.00 each.
Picture of the ikan keli before it can be served.
Ikan keli is now ready to be served!
Move on to IKAN KELI.
The fish tastes soft and fresh.
It will be a perfect match if you eat with its little sweet-salty sauce.
Other than that, ikan keli is full of glial protein.
The price of it is RM3.00 each.
While others were enjoying their food, Zuo Min and Chai Yee interviewed a loyal customer of Warung. He has been supporting Warung for around 10 years.
Apart from the delicious food, the owner maintained good relationship with the customers.

It is located at the side lane of JALAN STESEN.
Coming from the North-South Highway, to Tapah town, you will pass by a bridge (Jambatan Batang Padang), After turning left at the traffic light at the shell petrol station.
This restaurant is located on the left, immediately after the bridge, beside a mosque.
CHINESE FOOD (IPOH)
Talking about the chinese cuisine, the restaurant that we visited in Ipoh was TASTE GOOD.
It has been operating for half year but the chef there has more than 30 years of cooking experience.
He used to run a hawker stall only but now he became one of the shareholder of this restaurant and the head chef as well.
Picture taken with the head chef.
This restaurant used sunflower as its internal decoration in order to bring out a cheerful and relaxing atmosphere to their customers.
It provides air-conditioner as well.
Besides that, the cleanliness of the restaurant is very good so that customers can enjoy their food with a comfortable surrounding.
CANTONESE CHAR KUEY TIAO "WAN TAN HOR"
This is one of the recommended food that customers usually order.
The feature of the dish is the starchy egg gravy.
It is very special and extremely delicious.
We asked the chef regarding the recipe of the soup but he said it is "Top Secret."
The price is RM8.50 each.
FRIED HOR FUN
Fried hor fun is common in many places.
But in order to have a nice fried hor fun, you must try this !
The chef told us that they used pork to be one of the ingredients before.
But now, they are using chicken to replace the pork in order to
serve halal wan tan hor and fried hor fun for different races.
Its selling price is RM8.50 each.

INDIAN FOOD (TAIPING)
In the year 1900, a young Indian man had migrated to Malaya and he opened a restaurant named Bismillah. This is an Indian Muslim stall which consider as ''Mamak''.
But after that, he sold his restaurant to another person who is the current owner's father.
When we entered the restaurant, we were attracted by its antique design.
There are a lots of curio inside the restaurant.
Among the food that Bismillah served, the recommended TEH TARIK and ROTI CANAI are it's best selling items.
The first one is TEH TARIK.
Its portion is bigger compared to other regular teh tarik and it ONLY costs RM1.40.
Moreover, the technique of stretching the tea helps to mix well with another essential ingredient.
Thus, bringing out the strong aroma and the subtle taste of tea.
The restaurant served amazing roti canai that costs RM0.70 per piece.
The roti canai comes with 4 types of KUAH, (A kind of sauce which is a combination with roti canai) which you should not miss out when visit this restaurant.
Those 4 types of kuah are KUAH KURMA, KUAH IKAN, KUAH AYAM and KUAH HITAM.
Start from the top left is Kuah Ikan, Kuah Hitam, Kuah Kurma and the last down right is Kuah Ayam.
The taste of the Kuah Hitam is a little sour and it stimulates our appetite.
By the way, it is made by beef and smell tasty!
Move on to Kuah Kurma, it is very special because it is green color and we never try the taste before. Its taste like mushroom!
For Kuah Ikan and Kuah Ayam, although they are common that can be found in other places but it is the tastiest among all those that we have tried before.
These 4 types of kuah is selling at RM0.90.
"I had this food since i was young and it still remains unchanged", said Mr.Ahmed, a loyal customer of Bismillah.
Picture taken with one of the staff.
The business hour is from 6.00a.m to 9.00p.m everyday and will be closed during Friday prayers, from 12.00pm to 2.00p.m.

Yea. Cant wait for your next post. ^^
All i can say is nice design, nice blog, nice music, nice picture, nice food and also seductive angle taken for the pictures of food. keep up the good work. Hope to hear from you guys soon. Cheers.

The concept of this post is very suit to the concept that published by the government which is One Malaysia. It included different food that from different races. Some of the food is the traditional food that often taken by us. It really make me hungry now! It would be better if this post has more picture about the food in chinese and indian section. Apart of that, you guys may try to give more information about the food that you recommend. Hope that next post would better, but actually you guys really done a good job! Cheers!
love ur blog xD
keep it up and introduce more nice food for us^^
i seen your blogs for many times . I realised the food stall that you guys chose are unique and not those fancy fancy types . I'm impressed . Not many bloggers would blogs those unknown places anymore. And most of the time , the food at this places are the best . I hope to see more "kuah" updates from you people .
Hoho! Great topic with three most local foods! They've been hard to find, especially the four types of carry sauce and the crispy grilled fish but you've done. Maps are useful. About the badness, we should notice the arrangement of pictures. The better way is that only one picture in one row or grid properly when combining multiple pictures. One more thing is about the big different food prices and i don't think non-malaysian understand Kuah and Roti, maybe should provide some english description. That's all, all the best.
I like the IKAN BAKAR!!!! OMG!!!! ^^
Enjoy ur blog too~ Waiting for the next post~ ^^
You guys really did a great job by introducing us different types of tasty food available out there. I love to travel a lot but every time end up not knowing what to eat. But with all the information provided by you guys, i have no worries about what to eat anymore especially when i travel to Ipoh. Thanks guys!
I think the Fried Hor Fun is worth trying. Although the price is a bit more expensive if compared with those Fried Hor Fun available out there but Taste Good restaurant able to provide the customer a cheerful and relaxing atmosphere. And the most important things is the food is Halal, enable all types of races people to taste it.

Good to see you all changing the blog background frequently and that gives us a very refreshing look when entering this blog. I feel like never get bored with your blog because of the colourful theme. Thanks for spending a lot of time doing this. This actually leaves the readers a very good impression.
Besides that, the song is also very meaningful and suitable to our "SATU MALAYSIA" slogan. By introducing more variety of food, for example, not only Halal food, but you do include non-halal food in your second post, you can actually attract different races of readers. That's another improvement done from the previous blog.
There are really a lot of nice and representative food in Malaysia. By reading this blog, we can actually tell the world how tasty and delicious malaysia cuisine is. Hope more posts can be done, and i think after period of time, this blog can surely become a must-read information for those tourists who want to hunt food in Malaysia.
Well done.
One suggestion to you all: Is it possible to record video / interview from the customers who having meal in that restaurant? That will be interesting if we can hear / watch their comments/ expression when eating the delicious food.

It's brilliant job.
Your team has improvised the blog with more vibrant fonts, colour and songs. Great to see multi-cultural food recommendations in your 2nd post. You might want to enhance your blog with the "label" setting which is easy for your viewers to select and refine their search on your blog.
Love the introduction of the Sambal Belacan. It gives me that "mouth-watering" effect. Can't wait to savor that HOT Chilli stuffs.
Generally, your blog will serve to be a good foodie guide if we do a road trip.
Cheers,
Irene Lee

For those who are already working I am sure you have a list of affordable places for lunch – me too. We even took the extra effort to maintain an Excel list that will help us randomize a makan place if we were undecided. If you ask me, I consider any meals under RM10 still affordable, cheap if it is under RM5. Well, if you’re working in taming sari then you might want to try this roti with it's special kuah. i myself have already tried it. in fact it is my fav hang out during lunch time. affordable and tasty. Hopefully it is good enough for you as a new entry in that list of yours.
i often hear my Malay friends mention the food Ulam but i really have no idea what it is and how it is like cause i never really try Malay foods before. Thanks for introducing food from different kind of races or else i wouldn't even know what is Ulam like until now...i would really love to try it and introduce it to my other chinese friends...
I just came back from Ipoh. Enjoyed the char hor fun stall that I first bumped into along downtown in Persiaran Greentown (too hungry, no time to search further)…and to my surprise, it was not bad.
Shucks, I have missed this post of yours, if not, I would’ve tried the one you’ve mentioned.
Ikan Bakar is one of my favourite. Especially those which is tongue-numbing spicy. And i usually have Ikan keli, ikan pari, tilapia, ikan kembung and siakap which are normally available fish you could choose from. Ikan cencaru is new to me and what attracted me is it is stuffed with an orangish-red colored marinating sambal kelapa, they looked absolutely delicious.I just got to try them.
Seriously before i read your blog, i dont know what Ulam is.thanks for introducing us all those traditional malay foods because i love malay foods so much as i like to eat spicy foods. And im also a durian lover so i definitely will go try the durian sambal.
Roti canai is a must when go 'yumcha' with friends. But i nver knew there a so many types of kuah.Thank you very much for letting us know all those amazing foods!
